Alexander Shanks (b. 1996) is an American artist who began his creative pursuits at a young age by spending time in his parents' art studio, curiously picking up pencils and brushes and passionately absorbing technical training. He developed his studies at Studio Incamminati in Philadelphia, and continued to pursue a career in teaching and portrait commissions.
Eager to expand into the broader world of contemporary art Alexander attended and recently graduated from the New York Academy of Art in New York City where he began to explore new approaches to observational realism, blending classical techniques and contemporary conversations in his work. Alexander's practice explores the world around him through depictions of landscapes, people, social interactions and interconnectedness.

Alexander welcomes portrait commissions, both institutional and personal. Get in touch with him here for more information.
